The festival of Rakhi is popularly known as Raksha Bandhan across the country. It falls in the lunar month of Sravana or on the full moon day in the month of August with great enthusiasm all over India.

The history of Rakshabandhan dates back to Hindu mythology. As per Hindu mythology, in Mahabharata, the great Indian epic, Draupadi, wife of the Pandavas had torn the corner of her sari to prevent Lord Krishna's wrist from bleeding (he had inadvertently hurt himself). Thus, a bond, that of brother and sister developed between them, and he promised to protect her.

The basic significance of the Rakhi celebration is to share love and affection and strengthen the bond of love between brother and sister. According to the tradition, sisters tie Rakhi threads to their brother's wrist, praying for their happiness and long life and in return, the brother promises to protect his sister against all ills that may come her way.

It is also a great sacred verse of unity, acting as a symbol of life's advancement and a leading messenger of togetherness. Raksha means protection, and in some places in medieval India, where women felt unsafe, they tie Rakhi on the wrist of men, regarding them as brothers.

The word Raksha refers to "Protection" and Bandhan" means "Bond" Hence naming it as "Raksha Bandhan"- Protection of the noble bond between a brother and a sister.

Raksha Bandhan is also referred to as Vish Tarak - The destroyer of Venom, Punya Pradayak - the bestower of boons & pap nashak - the destroyer of sins. This festival which is said to be a celebration of bonding between a brother and a sister now has gone above and beyond and is also considered as a bond that strengthens between other family members and neighbors to take a pledge of lifetime promise of following the moral, cultural and spiritual values and caring for each other.

In a nutshell, Raksha Bandhan's festival is to cherish the beautiful memories and strengthen the bond we share. Thinking of you and sending you my warm wishes on this special day.

Well, on this special occasion I would want to dedicate this blog to my dear brother "Kiran"sharing the significance of this special awaited day every year, which rewinds all the childhood days. Those special days I wish I can go back in life, not to change anything but to feel few things twice.

Annaya, Few Words that I would like to share from the bottom of my heart......

Spending time with you has always been the best moments of my life -

You are my...

#Hero, #Myfriend

You have been an amazing person to grow up with - We had days when you hid my stuff, our cute Lil fights, complaints, eating each other's goodies that led to more and more fights in our childhood.

- I know it sounds weird as we spend our childhood days wishing that I was older and now that I am older, I wish to go back.

Finally, my love for you will never fade.....!!!
