Updated: Nov 28, 2020

Personal development skills can be characteristic or qualities that we have or can gain through education and training. Here are few examples of skills that people commonly aim to develop:

  • Communication

  • Interpersonal

  • Self-confidence

  • Work ethics

  • Leadership

Communication..

There are four important types of communication we use on a daily basis: Verbal, nonverbal, written and visual.

Have a strong, confident speaking voice:

First impressions are always valued the most and how you sound matters the most. For example-We are usually our more nervous in the first few seconds. So our “hello” comes out as heavily breathing, high-pitched /sounds nervous too.

How do you think people hear your mood?

Is it a bad day?

Well, people will hear you as it displays the sound and tone in your voice, even through the telephone.

People around can sense the emotion in your voice, irrespective of how sweet/soft you try to speak. Bad emotions will make you sound extremely unlikable.Vice versa

if its a good day.Emotion in your voice says it all.

Be an Active Listener...

Listening is one of the most important skills you need to have. How well you listen has a major impact on your job effectiveness, and on the quality of your relationships with others.

Avoid filler words:

Well, these filter words place distance between your first-person narrator and the reader. In fact, most of us are not good at listening.

Did you come across people who tend to speak dominantly the moment we start the conversation?

To be a good listener as a part of effective communication, pay attention to the other speaker very carefully. If you find it difficult to concentrate on what someone is saying, repeat his or her words which will reinforce his message and help you stay focused to what he/she is trying to communicate. This also helps you to create good and ever-lasting impression with others. To enhance your listening skills, you need to let the other person know that you are listening to what she is saying.

So, good communication skills require a high level of self-awareness.If you really do,that's one of your skills.

Yes...It is...!!!

Not everyone can be a good(=effective) speaker/listener.That is a skill that you timely develop with experiences. When you're to interrupt a person, pause a moment to think how you would feel when you were interrupted while communicating an important message.

What are Interpersonal skills?
